A rare pair of large carved white-glazed 'phoenix-tail' vases, Kangxi period (1662-1722)

Each vase is potted with a baluster body and a tall neck rising to a flaring mouth rim. The exterior is carved with peony flowers borne on scrolling vines. Each has a double circle in underglaze blue on the base.
Note: Compare the virtually identical single vase dated to the Kangxi period, but slightly smaller in size (70 cm.), sold at Christie's London on 21 April 2005, lot 13.
