The exterior of the bowl is elaborately decorated with four medallions enclosing the feng deng, 'Lanterns of Abundance', separated by floral sprays set against a sgraffiato ruby-ground. The interior is painted in shades of cobalt blue to depict flowering plants with jewels, surrounded by four lanterns, box.
Provenance: A German private collection, acquired in China prior to 1910.
