Lot 251. A celadon and russet jade finial, Ming dynasty, 14th-15th century; 2 3/4 in. (7.2 cm.) high. Estimate HKD 75,000 - HKD 120,000. Price realised HKD 137,500. © Christie's Image Ltd 2015
The finial is intricately carved in openwork with cranes amongst dense leafy vines entwined with lotus blossoms. The stone is of a pale celadon tone with some russet inclusions.
Provenance: Acquired by the father of the present owner in Saint-Petersburg circa 1960, thence by descent.
The present Lot come from a European private collection of Asian and European Art. A part of this collection of has been donated to the Hermitage Museum in Saint-Petersburg, Russia.
