the cover carved with various flowers borne on leafy stems, the base similarly decorated, the interiors and recessed base lacquered brown, the latter with a six-character reign mark, Japanese wood box.

Note: A slightly smaller box, originally inscribed with a Yongle mark which is now effaced, from the Baoyizhai collection, was sold in these rooms, 8th October 2014, lot 3211; and another Yongle mark and period example from the Lee family collection, carved with peonies, was sold at Christie's Hong Kong, 3rd December 2008, lot 2116.
