‘Le baroque à Florence’ au Bozar Bruxelles

BRUXELLES - Bozar vous invite à retourner à Florence au XVIIe siècle, à l’apogée du baroque. Ville de la Renaissance italienne par excellence, cette dernière vit néanmoins nombre de ses églises et palais se parer d’ornements et abriter des œuvres de peintres et de sculpteurs maniéristes et baroques. Les artistes florentins ne se laissèrent pas emporter par la tendance dramatique et extravagante dominante, et développèrent un style plus poétique et équilibré. Dans l’ombre de la mondialement célèbre Renaissance, cette période resta injustement sous-exposée. Les plus de 40 œuvres que vous découvrirez seront d’ailleurs exposées pour la toute première fois en Belgique : de l’influent Jacopo da Empoli aux portraits poétiques et hauts en couleurs de Cesare Dandini, en passant par les relations intimes entre la poésie et la peinture de Francesco Furini.

Bozar invites you to travel back to 17th century Florence, at the height of the Baroque period. Florence, the city of the Italian Renaissance par excellence, also saw many of its churches and palaces adorned with ornaments and works by Mannerist and Baroque painters and sculptors. Florentine artists did not let themselves be carried away by the dominant dramatic and extravagant trend, and developed a more poetic and balanced style. In the shadow of the world-famous Renaissance, this period remained unjustly under-exposed. The more than 40 works that you will discover will be exhibited for the very first time in Belgium: from the influential Jacopo da Empoli to the colourful and poetic portraits of Cesare Dandini, and the intimate relationship between poetry and painting of Francesco Furini.
