This head of Bodhisattva of great formal purity, displays both juvenile and idealized features. The eyelids are heavily rounded and half-closed, extending to the sides of the temples, which gives the divinity a malicious look. The features mirror the same geometric lines as the lips; the pinched smile accentuates the mischievous expression. The eyebrows in crescent moon shape combine to form a thin yet unbalanced nose, highlighting this sense of individuality. The forehead is adorned with a hallow urna. The hair is styled in free-flowing curls above the ears, fixed with a turban tied in the Parthian style. It is clear that the sculptor has paid particular attention to the carefully defined ears.
