"Magic Line" at Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art
Hanne Darboven, Ein Monat (1974)
BOLZANO, ITALY.- Museion - Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art presents Magic Line, on view through May 6, 2007 and curated by Andreas Hapkemeyer. "Line" can be seen as a "magical," archetypal element of all creativity in the visual arts. At the very same time, it has always been-and still today remains-a fundamental constant of writing. From simplest scribble to articulate vehicle of complex content, line presents an almost endless range of possibilities in the realm of the realization and perception of images. The exhibition "Magic Line" will also examine transitions, transformations and ambiguities between representation, abstract gesture and writing in the use and articulation of line.
The works on view will be by both European and extra-European artists: Andre Masson (as an historical reference point), Cy Twombly, Joseph Beuys, Hanne Darboven, Mona Hatoum, Shirin Neshat, Joseph Grigely, Otto Zitko, Kutlug Ataman, Gastone Novelli and Chen Zaiyan. (courtesy www.Artdaily.org)
