A pair of cloisonné enameled metal dishes - 17th Century

Their shallow curving wells each centered with a roundel of birds, garden rock and peony branches surrounded by reserves of 'Flowers of the Four Seasons' separated by cloud-collar cloisons that also fill the rim, the designs worked in rich colors and white against the turquoise ground, the reverse finished en suite with a classic lotus flower and leaf spray band and the recessed base finished in gilt (pitting, minor losses to enamels). 9 1/4in (26cm) diameter - Sold for $6,000 plus Premium and tax

Bonhams. Fine Asian Works of Art, 18 Dec 2007. 220 San Bruno Avenue, San Francisco, California
