A good soapstone miniature mountain - 18th/19th Century

Of irregular contour, carved as hillside with a dragon descending from clouds toward one luohan raising a fly whisk while a second luohan sits holding a lion in his arms, the reverse articulated with crags and further cloud scrolls; the ivory colored matrix marked with golden and reddish brown patches as well as some russet staining along natural fissure lines (minor chip); the sculpture now supported on a wood and green-stained ivory display stand (repaired). 4 3/4in (12cm) high - Sold for $4,250 plus Premium and tax
