The Royal Scottish Academy Presents RSA Student Exhibition 2008

LONDON.-The RSA Student Exhibition is the largest of its kind in the UK and is open to all final year and postgraduate students from the main art and architecture schools in Scotland. Presenting over 350 artists this year and with over £9,000 in prizes and awards, it is a highlight of the academic and exhibitions calendar for both students and the public. Offering a much-anticipated glimpse of the degree shows later in the year, all 12 RSA Galleries are dedicated to showcasing student works from Dundee, Glasgow, Aberdeen and Edinburgh. Featuring painting and drawing, photography, sculpture and installation, printmaking, video, sound works, architecture and performance, there is no selection process - every student may participate!
Many of the prize winners subsequently achieve further support through RSA Scholarships and residencies, gaining recognition in their first but by no means tentative, year out of college. The Exhibition is a rich source of interest for art collectors, gallery owners, art lovers, architects and designers eager to discover the cream of Scotland’s emerging talent.
The Royal Scottish Academy is delighted to acknowledge State Street as sponsors of the RSA Student Exhibition. State Street Corporation is the world’s leading provider of financial services to institutional investors. Locally, State Street’s support of Scottish based community organisations include Scottish Community Foundation, Prince’s Trust, Granton Baptist Church, Music at the Brewhouse, South Edinburgh Amenities Group, Fairbridge Scotland and Project Scotland. “We’re committed to developing programs and partnerships that strengthen communities,” said Michael Walsh, managing director of State Street's operations in Scotland. “We are delighted, through our sponsorship of this RSA Student Exhibition, to provide an opportunity for young artists to display their creative talents.” (courtesy www.artdaily.com)
