A carved celadon-glazed baluster vase. Chenghua six-character mark, Kangxi

Well carved with four phoenix in flight, their graceful wings wide spread, the long tails flowing and feathers finely delineated with delicate lines, all amidst lingzhi cloud scrolls and interspersed with the ba bao (Eight Treasures), the shoulders incised with a classic scroll below the neck with overlapping lotus-petal panels (losses to neck and rim). 49.2cm (19¼in) high.- Sold for £2,400.
