An important bronze figure of Buddha Shakyamuni China, Ming dynasty, 16th/early 17th ct
seated in vajrasana on a separate cast lotus base, both hands in dhyanamudra, wearing under garment held together with a girdle knotted at the front, long sleeved cloak covering both his shoulders, the borders engraved with scrolling flowers, his face with serene expression, slightly arched eyebrows above downcast eyes, aquiline nose, smiling lips, elongated earlobes, curled hairdo and ushnisha and with a ratna to the front - H. 86 cm - Minor repairs to body and base - Estimate on request
