Ruby and diamond bracelet, Chaumet, early 20th century

Designed as a semi flexible open work band set with circular-cut diamonds, highlighted with four oval cabochon rubies, inner circumference 172mm approximately, two small diamond elements deficient. Est. 13,000—18,000 CHF

PROVENANCE: Property of the Bourbon family

LITERATURE AND REFERENCES: Accompanied by a letter of authentication from Chaumet.

NOTE: The House of Bourbon, descendents of the French Capetian dynasty, can be dated back to the Count Robert de Clermont (1256-1317), the sixth son of King Louis IX, and his descendents, the Dukes de Bourbon. France's last eight kings, from Henri IV (reign 1589-1610) to Louis-Philippe (reign 1830-1848) and perhaps the most powerful and famous of them all, Louis XIV, the Sun King (reign 1643-1715) were of Bourbon blood.
One of Louis' sons, Philippe d'Anjou, became King Felipe V of Spain in 1700.
Either directly, or through various branches (Bourbon Orléans, Bourbon Two Sicilies, Bourbon Parma, Orleans-Braganza) the Bourbon family is linked to most European Royal families.
