Carved on the exterior in relief with scholars ascending a mountain path towards a hut perched on a rocky outcropping, followed by three servants carrying bundles balanced and slung over their shoulders, all below gnarled pines and hanging vines issuing from rocky overhangs that extend to the interior of the cup, flowers and grasses grow along a stream in the foreground, the horn of warm amber tone. Height 4 3/4 inches, width 6 1/4 inches. Estimate $300,000-600,000

The Honorable Judge Edgar Bromberger (1889-1956), who served as the Chief Magistrate of New York City. The Bromberger Collection has descended in Judge Bromberger's family since his death in 1956 and is entirely fresh to the market.
