Bowl with bird on a flowering prunus branch. Height: 80 millimetres-Diameter: 178 millimetres. Porcelain with underglaze cobalt-blue, cobalt-blue glaze and slip decoration. Jingdezhen, Jiangxi province 江西省, 景德鎮. Ming dynasty, Wanli period, AD 1573–1620. On loan from Sir Percival David Foundation of Chinese Art. Conical porcelain bowl. Monochrome blue glaze on the exterior with relief decoration in white slip of two groups of song birds perched on a prunus branch, with two butterflies between the groups. Underglaze blue conch shell on waves in a roundel on the interior.
