the section of the trunk cut laterally to reveal the tight grain of the irregularly shaped outline, carved in openwork with six legs resembling the roots of a tree with pointed tips, knots, nodes, holes, protrusions and auxiliary roots all extending from the top, the smooth patina with a golden yellow finish; width 44 cm., 17 3/8 in.
