the shallow rounded sides rising to a broad flat rim, the interior applied with a pair of scaly fish, encircled by a band of incised waves faintly carved and combed in the cavetto, applied overall with an attractive bluish-green glaze finely suffused with a matrix of crackles, thinning to white along the edges and stopping short above a neatly cut unglazed footring - 17.8 cm., 7 in.
Provenance: Mayuyama & Co. Ltd., Tokyo, circa 1960s.
