Note: Leytens made numerous variations of this, his most successful composition type, throughout his career. One such variation, was sold by Christie's London, 3 December 2008, lot 150. Another with a larger homestead to the right and more figures skating on the frozen river, was offered as part of the J.E. Safra Collection at Sotheby's New York on 26 January 2011, lot 41.
