the ewer with an ovoid body rising to a sloping shoulder, set with a gently curved spout and a loop strap handle, the cylindrical neck surmounted by a fitted cover with an animal finial; the warming bowl with deep lobed sides rising to a foliate rim, all covered with a translucent blue-tinged glaze - ewer 20.5 cm, 8 1/8 in.; warming bowl 16.3 cm, 6 3/8 in.
Note: A ewer of this type, dated to the Northern Song was unearthed in 2004 in Dantu District, Zhejiang city, illustrated in Zhongguo chutu ciqi quanji [Complete Collection of Ceramic Art Unearthed in China], Beijing, 2007, vol. 7, pl. 116.
