Lot 148. A large Ge-type hexagonal vase, hu, Qing dynasty, Qianlong six-character seal mark in underglaze blue and of the period (1736-1795). Hauteur: 47 cm. (18 ½ in.). Estimate EUR 100,000 - EUR 150,000 (USD 117,353 - USD 176,030)Unsold. © Christie's Images Ltd 2018.

De forme hexagonale, il est entièrement recouvert d'une glaçure bleu-gris finement infusée de craquelures noires et brunes. Le col évasé est flanqué par une paire d'anses tubulaires.

NoteThe glaze on this Qianlong hexagonal vase is a fine copy of early Ge ware. In the Qianlong reign Song dynasty stonewares, particularly the crackled wares of GeGuan and Ru type were very highly regarded by the emperor. Not only did the emperor collect Song dynasty examples of Ge wares, he also commissioned new porcelain with a similar glaze from the imperial kilns. The potters of the current vase have been particularly successful in achieving the 'golden thread and iron wire' effect in the crackle of this glaze. See the guan-type vase of similar size and shape from the Yongzheng period, illustrated in The Complete Collection of Treasures of the Palace Museum: Monochrome Porcelain (Beijing), Hong Kong, 1999, p. 226, no. 204.
