The horse is naturalistically modelled with the right leg raised, the mouth open and the head turned slightly to the left. The saddle has a tasselled saddle cloth, decorated in shades of red and green with swirling patterns.
Provenance: Private European Collection, The Netherlands, prior to 17 July 1996.
Note: The result of Oxford Authentication Thermoluminescence test no. 766t68 is consistent with the dating of this lot.
