With compressed globular body and tall neck, covered with a crackle-suffused mottled glaze shading from dark to slightly greyish crushed strawberry-red color below a pale celadon-tinted glaze at the rim.

Note: A copper-red-glazed vase of similar shape, but of slightly larger size (16 in. high), is illustrated in Collection of Chinese and Other Far Eastern Art, Yamanaka & Co., Inc., New York, 1943, no. 925, where it is described as langyao and dated to the Kangxi period.
