Lot 119. A blue and white Ming-style 'lotus' bowl, Kangxi six-character mark in underglaze blue in double circle and of the period (1662-1722). Diamètre: 16 cm. (6 ¼ in.). Estimate EUR 6,000 - EUR 8,000. Price realised EUR 10,000. © Christie's Image Ltd 2020.

Orné d'une frise de grecque à la bordure du col, l'extérieur du bol est à décor d'une bande de pétales de lotus stylisés autour du pied. L'intérieur est rehaussé d'une fleur à quatre pétales entourée par des rinceaux stylisés ; petite restauration.

Provenance: Previously in a Welsh family collection, acquired in London in the 1950s.

Note; An identical example is in the collection of the Shanghai Museum, illustrated in the Kangxi Porcelain Ware from the Shanghai Museum Collection, Hong Kong, 1998, pl. 17. Another identical so called 'Palace bowl' is in the Victoria and Albert Museum, London, illustrated by Rose Kerr, Chinese Ceramics, Porcelain of the Qing Dynasty, London, 1986, pl. 63.
