The mouth is narrowed, the shoulders are tapered, the belly is pear-shaped, and the bottom is flat. The belly of the vessel is blue and white painted with flying butterflies and flowers, and the mouth edge is decorated with lotus petals. The bottom of the device is exposed. This batch of porcelain should come from the Chu Dau kiln site in Hai Duong Province (Hai Duong, lower reaches of the Red River Basin) in Vietnam. Its style is similar to the Hoi An Shipwreck (ca. late 15th to 16th century) unearthed in the 1990s.
