Heavily potted jar with ovoid body, short neck and thickened lip, the unglazed base recessed within a broad foot ring. Around the sides a landscape with undulating clouds and a procession of three horsemen in the company of four attendants approaching a pavilion, where a scholar and an attendant are awaiting their arrival. Around the neck a design of trellis over a ground of crosses and squares. On the shoulder a honeycomb diaper pattern, reserved with four eight-lobed medallions enclosing sprays. Around the base a border of pointed leaves. The figures on this guan may represent immortals, legendary or historical characters.
