Bronze 'Spiral' mirror, Eastern Zhou dynasty, 5th century BCE. Diameter 9.2 cm; weight 93 g. Catalog 33 © 2026 Hyogo Prefectural Museum of Ancient Bronze Mirrors
This pattern combines raised, swirling feather-like motifs with fine, dotted patterns resembling a background design. Along with the twisted thread pattern around the periphery, it was a popular motif during the Eastern Zhou dynasty. Both patterns are also widely found on bronze ritual vessels, suggesting a close relationship between the production sites of bronze ritual vessels and mirrors.
