SINGAPORE: Chinese buyers are making their presence felt at this season's auctions of Chinese antiques, but they remain highly selective about what they buy. A sale by Sotheby's in Hong Kong, on Oct. 9, of rare objects from the imperial Summer Palace on the outskirts of Beijing attracted avid buying interest
"Important works in a range of categories, including porcelain, jade, paintings, enamel and metalwork, which until recently had been in collections in Europe and the United States, returned to Chinese hands," said Nicholas Chow, head of the Chinese ceramics and works of art department at Sotheby's in Hong Kong....
