A black and white jade snuff bottle

Well carved and incised with a genre scene featuring peasants engaged in various tasks near a small pavilion and tree growing by the side of a waterway which continues to the reverse, the figures picked out of a translucent pale green inclusion to the front of the mottled bluish-charcoal matrix, with a coral stopper secured by silver and copper-alloy bands. 7.7cm - Sold for $2,280  (Copyright © 2002-2008 Bonhams 1793 Ltd., Images and Text All Rights Reserved)
