Seated dhyanasana on an elaborate double lotus base, the superbly cast figure exhibiting the vitarka mudra and delicately grasping the stems to a pair of flanking lotus flowers supporting separately cast pustaka (book) and khadga (sword) to either side of the slender figure clothed in finely etched brocade garments and jewelry adorned with coral and turquoise, the sensitively cast face framed by an ornate five-point diadem with further inlay and fronting a tall chignon with traces of blue pigment (resealed). 13 1/2in (34.3cm) high - Sold for $36,000 Copyright © 2002-2008 Bonhams 1793 Ltd., Images and Text All Rights Reserved)
