Rutilated Smoky Quartz Cluster. Brazil
Rutilated Smoky Quartz Cluster. Brazil. Photo Bonhams
Brought by a Pennsylvania collector from Brazil, circa 1960, this is an exceptional specimen with great aesthetics. Consisting of a pair of beautiful, large conjoined crystals with excellent terminations, there are rare golden rutiles apparent in both crystals. Lustrous faces allow a view into the interior which has very good transparency. When illuminated from behind the specimen appears to have an inner glow. Of interest to metaphysical collectors are the "angels and ghosts" which are visible in the interior, namely the inclusions which exist in a plane invisible to the eye, then depending upon the angle of observation and alteration in the light source they become invisible.
This is probably one of the largest rutilated quartzes available on the world market today.
Weighing approximately 215 pounds and measuring 25 x 15 x 16 in. Estimate: US$ 10,000 - 15,000 / £6,200 - 9,300 / €7,700 - 12,000
