Hardwood with stone and mother-of-pearl. 3 parts: 2 throne-like chairs (h. 97 cm, seat 52 cm) and tea table (h. 80 cm, 40 x 40 cm). Backs and frames richly embellished with floral carvings and inlaid mother-of-pearl ornaments. Seating and table top with reddish stone plaques. Both backs of the chair with a circular 'dreamstone' panel: Finely veined marble plaque with delicate pattern resembling a painted landscape. On top of the frame an inlaid 'Shou' character with bats. Estimation : 2 500 €
Provenance.: From an old German coll. Acquired around 1900 in Tsingtao (Qingdao) and thence by descent.
