Strongly convex intaglio in gold setting with ring. Sirius. Head and shoulders of a dog frontal. Around the body, a collar inscribed with artist's signature in Greek ["Gaios epoiei"]. 

Provenance: By date unknown in the 18th century: Lord Chesterfield Collection; then in Lord Bessborough Collection; acquired from Lord Bessborough's Collection by George, 3rd Duke of Marlborough; by 1875: David Bromilow Collection; by 1899: collection of Mrs. Jary; by 1899: with Christie, Manson & Woods, 8 King Street, St. James's Square, London (auction of the Marlborough Collection, June 26-29, 1899, lot 270); by date unknown: with Edward Perry Warren; April 5, 1926: loaned to MFA by Edward Perry Warren (as 69.26); November 17, 1927: purchased by MFA from Edward Perry Warren for $ 161,000.00 (this figure is the total price for MFA 27.647-27.761)
