each with shallow rounded sides rising from a small tapering foot to a flared rim, lightly impressed around the exterior with an overall scalloped wave pattern and covered with an opaque enamel of light turquoise blue, the interior and the base reserved in white, the interior of the footring left unglazed and fired to pale orange, the base inscribed in underglaze blue with a six-character seal mark

NOTE: Dishes enamelled with this striking, bright monochrome turquoise enamel are extremely rare and the present pair is particularly large. A pair of smaller turquoise-enamelled dishes was sold in these rooms 20th November 1985, lot 206; another was included in the exhibition Ch’ing Porcelain from the Wah Kwong Collection, Art Gallery, Chinese University of Hong Kong, Hong Kong, 1973-4, cat. no. 37.
