The robustly potted vessel of oviform and covered in a rich glaze of deep purplish-red fading into pale blues, the inside of footrim glazed brown, 6cm high, 9cm diameter and on wood stand. Estimate £1,000 - 1,500 (€1,200 - 1,800)
Provenance: Alexander McLauchlan Duncan ARIBA SSA (Scot) and by descent to the present owner.
Alexander Mclauchlan Duncan was employed by The Chinese Maritime Customs based in Shanghai and also a ship owner during his time in 19th century China.
