The auction record for a signed impression is $3,000 at Christie's New York, 07/15/2014, lot #83. Our example, as Christie's, probably one of a special edition of the poster which Johns signed. According to Deborah Wye, Chief Curator of Prints at The Museum of Modern Art in New York, the poster "became one of the most well known images of the Vietnam period." Commissioned by the Leo Castelli Gallery on the occasion of the National Vietnam Moratorium, a nationwide coordinated protest against the war in Vietnam held on October 5th, 1969.
