the interior painted with a central medallion enclosing a dragon writhing amongst clouds and flame wisps in pursuit of a 'flaming pearl', the exterior similarly decorated, all reserved on a ground of blue washes, with a six-character seal mark in underglaze blue. Diameter 9 7/8 in., 25 cm
Provenance: Collection of Paul Samuel Reinsch, acquired in China, circa 1915.
Note: Paul Samuel Reinsch (1869-1923) was born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin and served as the United States Minister to China from 1913 to 1919.
