An iron-red-decorated blue and white 'dragon' dish, Qianlong six-character seal mark in underglaze blue and of the period (1736-1795). Estimate USD 20,000 - USD 30,000. Photo Christie's Image Ltd 2016.
The dish has rounded sides that flare at the rim, and is decorated on the interior with a medallion of an iron-red dragon writhing against a background of cresting waves, and on the exterior with a similar frieze of dragons below a band of demi-florets at the rim. 6 7/8 in. (17.6 cm.) diam.
