carved in the round, the horned buffalo seated in a recumbent attitude with a bushy tail, tied to the nostrils with a long rope, a boy in loose-fitted clothes climbing on the beast, clutching a sprig of peaches in his left hand and a spray of millet in the right, the white stone highlighted with russet inclusions.
Provenance: Acquired in Hong Kong in the 1970s.
