the flaring fluted sides rising to an everted barbed rim, supported on a short tapering foot, the center molded with a lozenge diaper and the cavetto with a band of lotus scroll, covered with a sea-green glaze pooling in depressions to highlight the design and thinning at the edges.

Provenance: Acquired in Japan between 1947 and 1952 and thence by descent.
