This teapot is in the same pattern as the tea service from Louis C. Tiffany's home on Long Island, Laurelton Hall. The service was sold at the Parke-Bernet Galleries auction of the collection of the Louis Comfort Tiffany Foundation in September 1946. The Los Angeles County Museum of Art now owns the teapot, creamer and waste bowl; a covered sugar bowl, possibly from a different service, is in a private collection.
The shape and decoration of this teapot is similar to forms used by Tiffany Studios for both a bronze lamp base and a pottery vase.
