A small Peking glass covered jar. 19th Century
The body of hexagonal section below a circular neck, formed with a translucent purple 'snowflake' ground covered with opaque white and olive green layers carved away to form a continuous panel of water birds and lotus plants rising from a lotus leaf covering the slightly concave base, the neck finished with a white key-fret band that recurs on the cover centered with five bats and a central shou medallion (minor chip). 3 1/2in (9cm) wide - Sold for $1,800 (Copyright © 2002-2008 Bonhams 1793 Ltd., Images and Text All Rights Reserved)
