A Large Free Standing Rock Crystal

A variety of colourless and transparent hyaline quartz, the word 'rock crystal' first appeared in the Middle Ages to distinguish it from flawless clear glass, which was beginning to appear. The Greek named these pure crystals Krystalos, from which the word crystal is derived.
