An Egyptian bronze cat. Late Period, circa 664-332 B.C.
Hollow cast, depicted seated on its haunches in alert pose, the forepaws together, the tail wrapped around the right side of the body, with incised details on the face and ear, the underside with two tangs for attachment, 57/8in (14.9cm) high, mounted. Sold for £26,400
Provenance: Gifted to the current private London-based owner over 30 years ago. Thought to have been acquired at Sotheby's in the 1970s.
