The two standing against pugs, the male left and the female on the right, were certainly intended for Bronzemontierung to then be used as interior decoration on a mantel or a dresser. With its purple bows at the neck and with open mouths, from which hang out the tongue tips, the dogs look particularly droll and lifelike, which is further enhanced by the fine, the muzzle and the eye area from the fawn coat dark highlighting Staffierung. According to his work report Kaendler created the parade seated on cushions pugs in October 1747: "Zwey Mopß Hündgen after seeing nature on cushions poußiret sietzend against each other."
