The Guanyin is seated in royal ease position (rajalilasana), with gilt decorations on top of flowing long robe, covering almost entire body, the serene face looking downwards, with half open eyes and smiling lips, all on top of original carved wood stand, with six character mark on the back, along with two artist marks "Zheng Hua" on the bottom. Dimensions: H: 21 in (53.4 cm) W: 17 1/6 in (44.5 cm). Estimated Price: $15,000 - $18,000
Li Zhenghua, a master teapot maker distinguished with title National Crafts Artist, was born in 1953, and started learning Yixing Zisha pottery making with Master Xu Xiutang in 1972. Eventually, he learned his craft from other masters, such as Xu Hantang, Lu Yaochen, Wang Yinxian, and others. He puts his understanding of Buddhism into all his creations. He has entered many national and international conventions, winning numerous awards.
