The Kangxi-marked bowl is decorated with scenes from the Romance of the Western Chamber, Xixiangji, and the interior is decorated with a roundel with boys at play. The other bowl is delicately painted with two panels enclosing warriors on horseback and officials holding audience, divided by two panels of calligraphy. The interior is decorated with a roundel enclosing three boys at play. The base with an apocryphal Chenghua mark. One bowl 8 in. (20.4 cm.) diam., the other 8 ¼ in. (21 cm.) diam.
