CHATTANOOGA, TN.- The Hunter Museum of American Art presents Carrie Mae Weems, on view through April 29, 2007. This two part exhibition features Weems’ photographic series, The Louisiana Project and From Here I Saw What Happened and I Cried. Weems seeks to explore how race, identity, gender and class have infiltrated American society through her work. The Louisiana Project delves into the carnival history and resulting culture of New Orleans through video projections, photographs and murals.
