The washer is carved in the form of two elaborate peony blooms growing from a gnarled leafy branch. The stone is of an even pale celadon tone with a few small areas of russet inclusion to the tips of the leaves and petals.
Provenance: The current vendor’s great grandfather, JC Williams (1861-1939) sponsored plant hunters Wilson and Forrest, who imported flower and plant seeds to the UK from the Far East in the early 20th century. It is likely that the jades in this collection were acquired by JC Williams at that time.
Property from Werrington Park, Cornwall.
