Cylindrical shape on a strongly molded foot with a profiled top. The hinged lid is also molded and steeply domed in the center. The body is decorated all around with a snakeskin pattern. The moldings of the foot and lid feature chased floral decoration. The lid is crowned by a lion as a shield bearer. Thumb rest in the form of a female fish.
 
The shield displays an engraved alliance coat of arms of the Hauser von Glarus and Sulzer von Schaffhausen families beneath the initials HH and ES. The year 1685 is engraved below.

Domed foot with repoussé vine decoration. The cylindrical body of gilt silver, overlaid with an openwork repoussé sleeve depicting putti and a swan in a continuous figural scene. Domed cover with broad rim and cast grape decoration. Spherical finial, scroll handle and bifurcated thumbpiece.

Note: The relief sleeve may have been executed by Johann Andreas Thelott while working as a journeyman in the workshop of his father, Israel. Domed foot with broad moulded rim. Cylindrical body with smooth, moulded lip. The cover also domed and slightly convex. Ribbed spherical finial, curved scroll handle and volute-form thumbpiece. Foot, body and cover decorated throughout with fine snakeskin punchwork. Engraved initials R.S. on the underside of the foot ring.
