A small cloisonné enamel covered jar - Meiji Period
The gradually tapering sides of the ovoid body finely decorated with an overall design of multi-colored phoenixes amid flowering tendrils on a mirror black ground repeated on the low dome-shaped lid and knob finial, a scale-patterned band defining the short pedestal foot, further cloisonné enamel accents to the top of the arched handle attached to the shoulder, the interior with an unusual gilt metal cylindrical insert (minor kiln flaw to the base).
